Ah Summer, my favorite time of year. I wish it could last longer…………We have such a short window of time here to wild harvest, garden and can food. It is enough to make your head spin. In the matter of 4 months we have to prepare, plant and harvest our food.
I love wild harvesting because all I have to do is harvest, nature does the rest. This year I managed to harvest rose petals, spruce tips, fire-weed, raspberry leaves and some plantain. I am in the process now of collecting Saskatoon berries and huckleberries. My husband picked a bunch or morel mushrooms…yum.
The kids are growing just as quickly as my tomato plants and, just as it will soon be winter, sooner than I will like, my kids will be grown up. It is amazing just how fast it goes, isn’t it?
For now, I am enjoying every damn second of it, squeezing the most I can out of summer, and out of motherhood.
I am enjoying time at the beach, and taking time with friends. In-Joying Life to it’s fullest.
