I am honored today, because a couple of my paintings have been chosen to go into our new hospital. We recently had a new hospital built in our community (our old hospital was around for a long time! My mother was born in it).
An art committee was set up to find artwork for this new hospital. I submitted my pieces to be considered and I was happy when they said, “yes!”
The painting would be a wonderful addition to our maternity ward, if we ever get to utilize it. In our small town, woman haven’t been able to have babies for over 9 years now. Because of doctor shortages and no one here to do “emergency c-sections” woman have to go to another town to have their babies. It is quite ridiculous if you ask me.
I actually had my last child in our old hospital 3 years ago. I was supposed to have my baby in a town an hour and a half from here, but my child was born too fast for me to make it there. By the time I went to our hospital to be checked out, I was fully dilated. I had my son in the same room I had my daughter in 8 years prior (when they were still delivering babies here).
I hope that with a new hospital, we can attract new doctors, and woman can start having their babies in there own town! My biggest wish would be for woman to also have the option of having their babies at home with a midwife, that is what I always wanted to do, but couldn’t do it unless I left town.
Anyways, I am happy to have my paintings professionally framed and displayed where people can enjoy them, for that I am grateful.
Just a little blog post to celebrate and share with you all 🙂
